Building a career in tennis industry

It is not mandatory for everyone to make a career in the field of science and technology. Not everybody is meant to pursue desk jobs, and there is nothing wrong with it. People should think outside the box, and recognize what their strong suit is.

For example, some people are born to be sports players and though it may sound very surprising, the sports industry is no less rewarding that any other. One of the sports that offer great opportunities in terms of career prospective is tennis.

Most people begin to play this sport with the idea of developing a hobby or to stay fit. But if a person turns out to be exceptionally good at this game, he must take a step forward, and try to build a career out of it.

Being a part of tennis industry doesn’t mean that everyone has to become the next Maria Sharapova, or Roger Federer. Even if you are not able to make it to such great heights, there are so many other promising options in this field.

For example, you could end up becoming a trainer in private tennis societies or become an instructor at school or college level. The career option of a trainer is best for those, who are good teachers. If you feel that giving instructions to others and helping others improve their gaming skills is something you would be best at, you must try out to become a trainer.

But for that, it is recommended to start early. The earlier one starts practicing, the better shot he will have at securing a lucrative career. Even if you were not very sporty as a kid, it is never too late to work for your goals. The first step into building a career in this industry is to enroll in one of the tennis clubs in Connecticut. This place has many good tennis clubs, and under the guidance of instructors, you can hone your game skills.

Depending on your passion and how quickly you are able to learn you can then become a USPTA-certified professional. With this certification in your hands, great opportunities will come looking after you. This certification means you are qualified to be an instructor and have been through practical and theoretical tests. After this you can become a part-time teacher or a high school coach or work in private training centers.

Are you aware of the rules & etiquette of tennis?

Before playing any game, it is important to understand its rules. Therefore, if you are interested in playing tennis then before you pick up racket and start playing; first get aware with its rules.

Following are few rules and regulations followed by all tennis clubs in Connecticut or any other city:

Baseline
A player when hitting a serve needs to be on a certain boundary, which is called as baseline. It is a horizontal line on the court and player needs to stand outside of that line facing the net. Once the ball is served, player can stand anywhere in the court.

Sidelines

On both side of tennis court (left and right) there are two lines stretching from the baseline to the net. These lines are called sidelines.

These lines indicate single and double matches. The inside pair of lines indicates singles matches; the outside pair of lines indicates doubles matches.

In bounds

The court is divided into two halves, in which the middle part of the court is called in bounds. When playing tennis, a player needs to serve into the front part of the court on the opposite side.

Out of bounds

Every player makes a mistake when playing, which is stated as fault. In tennis, if the serve does not land in the proper section of court, it is considered as a fault.

Player getting two faults in a row, benefits the opponent player as he or she get the point for the two faults, if committed.

Likewise, if ball gets out of bounds on a regular volley shot by the player, then also opponent player gets a point. And if ball goes out from baseline, then it is stated as out of bounds and the opposing player gets a benefit of a point.

Net

Net is not just to make boundary. It also serves some value to the game. If a serve hits a net, the player has to replay the serve and in case if the ball hits the net on a regular volley and does not go over the net, opposing player get the credit to earn a point.

In case, if a player hits the ball off the net and it lands in bounds boundary of the opponent's side, the player hitting the shot gets an advantage to earn the point.
